Musical Fidelity X-PSU v.3 Power Supply $599.00
|
Coincidentally released at the same time as the Cambridge Audio Dacmagic, this little blister packed black box is intended to raise the quality of the digital stream conversion back to analogue two channel.
Our initial impressions are very positive ... at $499 this is a fantastic piece of audio value. definetely not reeking of high end aereospace alloy but it sounds way above its price and appearance. |

This is the new entry point CD Player from Marantz and its ... jolly good. There is something of an illustrious history of Marantz CD players having exceptional musical performance at a reasonable price since the model CD63 from the primitive 1980 days of early digital. The model CD94 and CD63KI are highly collectable these days. |

The CD73 was a workhorse of a machine for Carlton Audio Visual, a real go-to player that you could count on to sound good in almost any system you dropped it into. It's replacement, the CD17, manages to better it, resulting in more detail, depth and staging, providing superlative performance for the money. Cosmetically its been upgraded too, falling into the more expensive FMJ (Full Metal Jacket)lineup. Do try it. |

We really like the new Creek EVO range. The amp and CD represent ridiculous performance levels for their price point. Well built. Great sound. Cool looks (well, at least in the black finish). If you want serious HiFi but are on a budget of just around $1.5K for an amp or CD player, the EVO range fits the bill.

No, that isn't a typo, this is a $2000+ CD player from Cambridge Audio (NEW PRICE DROP!). The company best know for building superb budget players has now turned its attention to developing a high end CD solution. The Cambridge Audio team has brought their usual sensibilities along, designing a player that still screams value, albeit from the top of a $2200 pedestal. It also defies convential logic by having a pair of digital inputs so you can maximise the sound quality from your DVD player or other digital sources. |

A new CD player from Cyrus is always a treat. We are unashamed fans of Cyrus here at CAV and this long rumours, oft delayed player was a long time in the making. Sporting a brand new transport mechanism, the slot loading Cyrus is simple to use and sounds fantastic. Push the disc in and wait for the magic to start. |

We're big fans of Welsh based Leema Acoustics here at CAV, the Antila and Tucana combination being a 'go-to' product that never fails to deliver. So we've been anticipating the arrival of the new Stream CD player since it was announced six months ago. We've not been disappointed by the Stream so far, its already clocking up lots of dem hours here in store. Its a strong competitor to our favourite Cyrus components and will give components retailing up to 4k a run for their money. We also love the single multi control knob interface on the front panel. Come in for a listen! |

Quirky, interesting, original and just a little British. We really dig the new Creek Destiny series of electronics. Revealing yet oh so musical. Will breathe new life into the most sterile of systems. |

This slim piece of wrought alloy is one of the reasons to why you should consider this brand as part of a good system. Allied to a good transport the focus, detail and presence it injects into the system is an object lesson in how much detail there is remaining in a digital signal that is largely unexploited by most digital replay devices. |

The Premier one-box CD player from Cyrus take another step up in audio quality with the "Made for high-end" CD transport mechanism. I never stop being amazed at how Cyrus cram so much good gear into such a small box, and then how such a small box can put out so much sound! |

This Hybrid CD Player is a heavily constructed Italian Job. It combines a Class A buffer with a Double Triode (4x EC883) output stage. The model we have here has the DAC board that allows the DACs to run in Dual Mono thus enhancing the overall sound.
It has a most singular delicate touch, still a new beastie with us but offers an immediately likeable rendition of the music without the gravitas of some of the English products.

These two components are reputed to be the last consumer product to be graced by our favourite hi fi guru. Ken Ishiwata is an icon of the audio industry, being an original disciple of Saul Marantz who as a student copied value for value one of Saul's designs of amplifier ... only to discover it sounded completely different from the original product. thus he gained his understanding of the importance of passive component quality in Hi Fi design. |

This New Zealand mad CD Player has been gaining numerous accolades in the very critical European press. it is one absolutely minimalist piece of kit forbearing normal track time displays and gadgets in favour of forged and billeted construction and fantastic sound quality. An ideal partner needless to say for the 9200 integrated amplifier. |

There are some rumblings from our friends at Rega, usually so famous for their excellent turn tables, about a new reference class CD player coming very soon. Moving away from a naming convention of heavenly bodies (and hence Roman deities) we have something distinctly more Egyptian in the Isis. |
