Extending the functionality of Cambridge Audio's critically acclaimed integrated stereo Azur amplifiers and AV receivers are two phono pre-amplifiers. The entry-level 540P is a high quality Moving Magnet design featuring single-ended 'Class A' gain stages and discrete transistors instead of the more common integrated circuits. This gives less cross-talk and interference across the signal path. The 540P employs an active RIAA equalisation system. The rear panel benefits from gold plated input connectors to minimise signal path interference and reduce surface degradation. An external power supply comes as standard.

The 640P phono pre-amplifier (sometimes known as a phono stage) also uses superior amplification circuitry for its MM and MC stages to provide the lowest possible distortion and noise. In addition, the flagship model employs multi-parallel capacitors to achieve exceptional RIAA accuracy of only 0.3dB up to 50kHz and features a defeatable subsonic filter. The Azur 640P phono pre-amplifier employs a comprehensively specified Moving Magnet stage, as well as the higher gain needed for compatibility with high-end Moving Coil (MC) cartridges. This raft of technologies combines to offer a hugely dynamic, involving and open sound.

Does it seem unlikely that a Japanese Audio company would be releasing a new turntable into this digitally driven environment? Well Denon still acknowledge the strong presence of Vinyl in the audio enthusiast marketplace and have tied that and the need for digitisation together with this neat little offering.

Rega is not a company that likes to rush things. Whilst this fast pace world is obsessed with new formats and bigger numbers, Rega took 15 years to produce a CD player. But a dramatic change in this 1080P world, Rega have released a new entry point turntable. This is a dramatic conflict of sensory reproduction techniques in a world of micro transistors, a music transducer with fewer parts than a cabinet piece...

The circuitry in the X-LPSV3 is similar to that used in expensive electronics. The RIAA is very accurate, the noise ratio is excellent and overload margins are good. Generally, its technical performance on both MM and MC is equal to some highly expensive stand-alone phono stages. Subjectives are personal, but we think that the X-LPSV3 will stand comparison with the best. It doesn't have a high price tag so many will not even look or listen to this little marvel. Forget the price and listen to the music.

With turntables in such a state of marketplace ascendancy it dosnt seem odd that I am writing about something that I believe I was selling in 1976.
This is the classic mid priced Japanese turntable that to be honest was always outpointed on sound quality by Rega and Thorens but has its niche because of fully automatic operation allied to a reasonable tonearm and cartridge with a good acoustic plinth design.

Mr Gandy and company have been busy, introducing the entry point P1 and P2 turntables over the last 12 months. So why stop there? Rega decided to redsign the p3, the famous turntable that has been a staple of the line since Mr Brett was young. Or younger. Less old anyhow.

The much revered Rega P3-24 is now available in some very snazzy gloss colours. The coloured version comes stock with a TT-PSU external regulated power supply for a much smoother ride for your vinyl. The pairing effectively make the coloured finish a free extra. Nice!

The P5 is a turntable born from the ashes of the P25. The P5 celebrates over 30 years of Rega precision crafting specialist hi-fi in Britain. And subsequently combines everything that Rega stands for, which is simply, giving you the best product in terms of quality and style at the best possible price!

This glorious piece of hewn acrylic is actually made for Marantz by Clearaudio. It has a 3cm thick heavy acrylic platter that runs on a ceramic bearing in a sintered bronze cap. the motor is dampened and isolated from the chassis to prevent any vibrational influence on playback. It comes with an ebony bodied cartridge made for Marantz by Clearaudio.

The Gyrodec SE is a plinthless version of the non-SE Gyrodec. Idenitcal in performance to the non-SE Gyrodec, the SE version represents a more affordable entry into the world of high-end turntables. A Universal cover to keep dust off the platter and tonearm is available, as is the full acrylic plinth and hinged lid can be added at a later date if so desired.

The new P7 is, in our opinion, the ultimate performance turntable at it's price available to the music-loving public. We designed the P7 with knowledge and expertise gained from our legendary flagship turntable the P9.

For those who worship at the Vinyl altar, the Gyrodec needs no introduction. Conceived in 1981, the Gyrodec has been one of the world's best selling turntables, not to mention one of the most recognisable. A suspended chasis, the Gyrodec has a wonderful liquid top end and pure midrange, and bass to die for. Surface noise and hash (not the kind you smoke) is rendered virutally inaudible. Unlike a CD player, this source component plays well below 20Hz and over 30KHz. It is something that needs to be experienced.

The new P9 is, in our opinion, the ultimate performance turntable available to the music-loving public. We designed the P9 with no financial restrictions whatsoever. The ceramic platter alone costs more to produce than our P25 turntable!
