Ten months of R&D and lengthy listening tests has facilitated the launch of the original DB1 reference mini monitor. The DB1 is the worlds smallest transmission line design, with an effective line length of 1.5m in a tiny, heavily damped cabinet.
The strengths of the design are outstanding dynamics, exceptionally low distortion and depth of bass that would suggest a loudspeaker of dramatically larger proportions.
Now into its "i series" incarnation the DB1i has been getting some rave reviews from the critics:
"Its hard not to be impressed by the fast, clean open sound and the almost magical focus and soundstaging on offer"
Gramophone, May 2008
“It all adds up to a dynamite design, capable of taking on the best in the compact monitor market. It plays anything you throw at it with poise and low-end punch.”
What HiFi? May 2008
“For me, the natural mid-band is the main draw”
“The improbably huge bass is reason enough to love the smallest PMC, the DB1i is even better at it than its predecessor – fast, smooth, rolling.”
“There’s are particular richness usually denied owners of small speakers; the wee PMC ignore any restraint,
“The PMCs never showed trace of smear, never lost a shred of definition.”
DB1i – Staying online – HiFi News Highly Commended
HiFi News Sept 08, Ken Kessler
“The DB1i has an impressive evenness, warmth and harmonic richness.”
“The major plus with the DB1i is that it has significantly more dynamic grip and enthusiasm than the average speaker of this size.”
“It does give its something of an edge in delivering and expressive and involving experience.”
“A very effective musical communicator, with fine warmth through the mid range and a much sweeter and more extended treble than its predecessor”
