Denon AVC6700H Surround Amplifier ... massively endowed cinema sound

I have always loved the large Denon amplifiers ... both personally and professionally.
Personally the tonal neutrality and speed and grip without harshness is deeply appealing. These big devices are able to tame loudspeakers that would otherwise present as intolerably bright or numbingly dull.
This is the new Japanese made statement product that although it is only nominally 20 watts more than the AVRX4700H is all about the dynamic presentation and real world loudspeaker driving capability. in Home Cinema amplifiers the wattage quoted is one of the most marketer abused specifications and has no bearing on how a device actually sounds.

I have always loved the large Denon amplifiers ... both personally and professionally. Personally the tonal neutrality and speed and grip without harshness is deeply appealing. These big devices are able to tame loudspeakers that would otherwise present as intolerably bright or tweedily dull ...

The AVC6700H is VERY load tolerant and is one to use especially for those threshold crossing set ups where one looks for optimising speakers that are hungrier for power and control and may be capable of quality musical expression as well as striving for Cinema sound values of speed and presence. Speakers like the Sonus faber Sonetto range or the Monotor Audio Gold series are the kind of thing I'm thinking of here.

This is a Japanese made amplifier where all the lower models are offshore manufacture and it shows even in the box and packing. There is a slickness and precision to the finish of the Japanese manufacture that while it might only be a matter of a few thousandths of an inch difference in tolerances are immediately noticeable when you go tactile on the unit.

One might argue they are also relevant when the Japanese made unit gives you a couple of decades of trouble free service...

I have included a Hi Fi porn picture of the internals so that a potential end user can see what you actually get. One would not buy a car without knowing what's under the bonnet I hope. Sadly with surround sound product many manufacturers quote misleading specifications that are then echoed on the showroom floors of mass market retailers but have no connection to sound quality. The raw componentry of an amplifiers internals are very revealing and just a common sense interpretation of relative quality of power supplies and output stages and boards really shows you how well somethuing is engineered.

A very handy comparison guide to all the AVRX Denon Receivers
