  • Sony VPL-VW870ES

This is quite simply, the best projector we've ever had in the store by a long margin. Essentially it's Sony's $90K projector put in to the slimmer more home/mounting friendly chassis of the VPL VW760. It's priced, however, closer to the 760 which makes it in our minds, a RIPPER.

The picture quality with this projector is transformative. The detail brings out a depth of field that is unrivaled. Images sparkle with an intensity because the colour gamut is so large.

Laser light source will provide circa 20,000 hours of viewing (that equates to around 10 years IF you're playing the projector 6 hours every day).

  • Sony VPL VW290ES Projector

Sony projectors have become the gold standard for us in residential applications. Their images are simply brilliant. And it comes down to some very clever technology that they use. This technology is filtering down into the lower levels of projectors as well making the VPL VW290es unbeatable in that sub $10,000 category.

Like its predecessor, the VPL VW270es, this projector is native 4K and doesn't employ any shaking or shifting chips to produce a 4K image. It's the real thing. It also has the 4K motionflow technology on board to give a life like smoothness to the image.

What's new in the 290 that the 270 didn't have, is the X1 chip processor. This intelligent chip contains an image analyser and applies Dynamic HDR enhancer and super resolution.

Dynamic Tone Mapping is present in this model too where before it was exclusively for the higher end models.

There are of course some things that Sony have kept exclusively for the higher end models. The Laser light source is the most obvious. With the lamp light source you're looking at 1500 peak lumens instead of 2200 for something like the VPL VW870es with the Laser.

Interestingly the inner lenses are made of glass in this model but the outer cover is plastic. The lenses are all aspherical to stop refraction aberation, a feature normally found on much more expensive projectors. Sony is really being clever here getting the aspherical lens in at this price point using cheaper materials in an effective manner.

Overall a sensational projector for people serious about Home Theatre without spending a fortune. This unit is already proving itself as a customer favourite.

  • New line up of Sony 4K TVs... starting at $1295 for X80J 55"

The Television marketplace is notoriously cut throat. We, as a small family run retailer, struggle to find a foot hold amongst big national retailers like Harvey Norman and JB HiFi who can manage to sell units below our cost. As a business we have seriously considered not selling TVs. Once we add on costs of delivery and installation we can easily find ourselves losing money whilst trying to be competitive.

Needless to say we don't waste our time with cheap and nasty units, we happily leave those to the mass market retailers. Lately, we've been selling almost exclusively the premium German made Loewe TVs and haven't really filled the mid level, ordinary Aussie house hold market.

But no longer! We've got ourselves some great deals on some Sony sets. The X80J LED TV at a decent 55" is $1295 and the OLED A90J 65" is $4995.

And unlike the big chain stores, we won't leave you to fend for yourself hooking it up to your AV receiver. Hell we'll probably even organise installation for you and be on the end of the phone to sort out any teething issues.

You'd be surprised the amount of times we'll get called on a Saturday morning with 'the remote's not working' or 'there's a picture and no sound'. Such things are usually easily solved but require just a bit of talking through to iron them out.

As one of the little retailers we're committed to going the extra mile for our customers because, well, we like them! They're a cool bunch of people who do more interesting and, yes, more useful things than we do. So if we can save them time by solving their TV issues so their kids can sit and watch Saturday morning TV, that makes us happy.

  • Sony Bravia Masters Series A90J 65" OLED Television...Bright and Sublime!

I've been waiting and anxious for this model to of TV to drop in Austrlia and it's finally here! We've put it right in the window of the main shop too. Prime position facing Lygon st.

We sell alot of OLEDs but this one is just that much brighter. The colour really pops even in front of our floor to ceiling window at the front of the shop. There's barely any annoying reflectivity on the panel's protective layer which goes to show the quality of materials used in its construction.

Replete with all of Sony's newest Cognitive Processor XR technology that's working behind the scenes to make sure your blacks are true black and that it's Sony's brightest ever OLED.

Motion with the unit is also superb and you can really tell it's a quality TV when you put it up against the cheaper units in the Sony range.

Sony's built in smart features seem endless and most importantly are very intuitive to use!

Come by and try it for yourself.

We have the 65" on display but it also comes in a 83" (call us for pricing)

  • Sony VPLVW790ES ... state of art 4K three chip laser projector

Quite simply the optimum pathway towards luxury theatre with a large screen and high quality source. There may be better projectors ... such as the Sony VPLVW890 and the remarkable new GTZ380 but mein gott you will have to shell out extra peffnig for them.

For me the overriding performance indicator of this projector is the purity of its colour ... the appearance of white snow through one of these devices makes everything else look like Frank Zappa's yellow stuff ("Don't eat the yellow snow" 1974)

White rendition is something we tend to take for granted, reviewers always talk about the reds and the colour dynamic and black levels ... however once you see a pure white reproduced effectively you cannot go back.
