Naim is one of the best of English HiFi brands harking from Salisbury where their design and manufacturing facilities are located. They are one of the true high-end electronic brands that make gear like their Statement Amplifiers retailing for a cool $375,000 for a set.

This little CD player is their entry level but for most people this doesn't represent your typical first-time-buyer HiFi component. It's intricately thought out, meticulously engineered, clean and musical. 

The typical comparison is with Rega and Cyrus CD players, both english and both also in our inventory. The Naim is more transparent sounding than a Rega Apollo, finding more detail and space in the music. It's closer in performance to the bigger (and more expensive) Rega Saturn. The Saturn, however, has a richer tonality to it than the Naim. A bit more 'rounded' on the treble. The Cyrus CDi, has a similar sound signature and as a half size unit it offers a convenient footprint. The slot mechanism will never be a perfectly reliable solution for a CD player though and what Naim has done with their tray and resonance reduction is really admirable.

A small soundbar on a budget. It will never get you to a place of real Home Theatre immersion but maybe that's not what you'll need it for. 

Denon is a universally respected HiFi brand and given the popularity of soundbars by middle income earners, it's no wonder they've come out with a range of different units to suit a variety of budgets.

If you're a real audiophile looking for good quality sound in a soundbar form, I'd suggest you look at the DHT-S516 though.

Denon's uncompromising all-in-one soundbar. If you're at all a HiFi enthusiast and have listened to soundbars, you'll know that there is much to be desired in terms of audio quality. For the neatness below a TV and the convenience of streaming built-in, they are still popular options. For many of our clients who admittedly are more audiophile than layman Australian, this model of soundbar are the only soundbar units that we'll recommend. And even then, they normally get put into a kids Rumpus room or other secondary entertainment system.

For a lot of people, a slim soundbar that delivers clarity and depth to the sound without encompassing the whole entertainment space is a perfect solution. For many of our customers who err on the side of audiophile fanaticism, it's perhaps more appropriate for a kids rumpus room or secondary entertainment space that is used less often.

The Denon soundbars are good for what they are but make no mistake, a soundbar will never beat a complete Home Theatre setup.

At 9 years old, my first trip overseas was spent in the UK visiting family and friends.

Dad (mis)spent most of his youth in Cambridge and we followed him around to his old haunts.

As a kid growing up in a HiFi store and taking dance classes, when customers had left the store (sometimes when they were still there), I would dance around the shop stupidly. This is Epson's first real 4K unit but more than that, it will actually pixel shift that whole 4K matrix. This means it'll be BETTER than 4K...and that's unheard of in the residential projector market.

It's also a 3 chip LCD design meaning there is zero rainbowing. Rainbows are nice after rain but not on your projector screen. There really aren't many projectors with 3 chips under the $10K mark.

Traditionally this place in the market has been dominated by Sony projectors in Australia. But this Epson may just trump them!
