Koss were the very first company to manufacture Headphones or Stereophones as they were then known for personal audio use. Prior to their SP/3 model release in 1958, Headphones were used purely for communication purposes. Think 1940s war time Telephone switch boards.

Developed in Germany in 1978, the Knosti Disco-Antistat has simplified the procedure and made the task less of a grind. It has become one of the world’s most popular record cleaning tools, due to its efficiency, ease of operation and affordable price. Its success is also due to the fact that it bridges the gap between the very cheap but mainly ineffective ‘cloth and fluid’ group of record cleaners and the full-blown esoteric and expensive vacuum machines like those made by American company VPI. 

The Knosti Disco Antistat has been on the market unchanged since 1978! That alone is testimony to its effectiveness. It removes the dirt and dries the record without leaving any residues. It also minimises static electricity which is a big problem affecting record performance. If you are into or back into vinyl, then you need, yes need one

Garrott Brothers business was founded by the Garrott twins. They were two Australian brothers who dedicated their lives to making music better for everyone. Starting off in the hey day of vinyl in the 70s they incorporated some fantastic technical advances into affordable cartridges. Standard cartridges that came on Turntables back then left alot to be desired and the Garrott Brothers business grew very quickly.

Unfortunately the 1990s saw the demise of vinyl and the rise of the CD. At the same time one of the brothers was diagnosed with congenital heart disease. I won't go into the tradgedy and circumstances of their deaths. If only they had lived long enough though to see the comeback of Vinyl and its popularity blosom again.

We're lucky that their molds and castings live on and new cartridges can be made so their expertise lives on in this age of vinyl renaissance. 

The K1 is the conical model of cartridge in their K series. But it's not to be equated with just an old conical cartridge. The K1 is a step up from the average conical cart and this will translate into more detail and musicality in the sound.

A very useful little phono stage that doesn't choke the richness of your vinyl.

One of my pet peeves is when people have a fairly good turntable set up but are using a very sub par phono stage. Often the most cost effective upgrade is a stand alone phono stage.

Lesser phono stages will bring in an edge to the vinyl sound. We all put so much value on Vinyl because of its inherently analogue sound devoid of the brittleness of digital. So please, no need to spend the earth but a good quality phono stage, like this one, is well worth it!
