Unboxing them, they look VERY similar to the non i series but underneath the tweeter mesh they've hidden a whole new dual tweeter design with two complementary tweeter domes operating in syncronicity. The little 19mm inner dome deals with the higher frequency extending the frequency range of the speaker whilst the 34mm outer dome functions to integrate the tweeter with the sound of the bass driver much better.
Coupled with a new crossover design, what stands out with this new iteration is better consistency across the whole frequency band.
