These are effectively the replacement for the Bronze 2 as the new range has evolved upwards in size and quality. That means they have some big boots to fill.

The old Bronze 1s tended to be the speaker of last resort if you really simply didn't have the space for some Bronze 2s. A little thin sounding, they lacked the luscious depth of the bulkier Bronze 2s. A great speaker for a satellite type setup with a matched subwoofer but struggled on their own to produce room-filling sound.

With the new 6th Generation Bronze baby bookshelf, they've fixed that up. It boasts a larger cabinet, increasing the resonanting chamber to give it a deeper more sonorous sound. The old Bronze 1 has been reborn as a Bona Fide stereo bookshelf.

The first mini yet mighty speakers that Acoustic Energy released were the AE1 in 1987 that immediately redefined the state of the art of extracting a large sound from small loudspeakers. I particularly recall the retail impact of the AE1 in Melbourne at the the time as I was losing sales of large box JBL and Infinity and Yamaha speakers to this curious then largely unknown English brand.

Their new version of the AE100 is no different. A reworked cabinet design means a larger internal volume for a richer, deeper sound. New, redesigned drivers (that are made in-house at Acoustic Energy) give more definition and accuracy. A new waveguide design also accompanies the new tweeter for better sound dispersion.

Cunningly the cabinet of this small speaker is made of exceptionally high density material rather than the normal MDF of loudspeakers in this category, and in doing so realise a greater internal volume in a cabinet of the same size with lower resonance properties. The result is deeper bass with less colouration than other products of this size and price.

All-in-all this is a substantial redesign with marked improvements over the original AE100.

Yes we do sell Sonos. As convenient, low-fi pieces of Audio gear, Sonos is really useful. If you're after proper Hi-Fi then you should look at separates as in an amplifier and a set of speakers. You can always add a Sonos Streamer to a system lie this if you really want to stay in the Sonos sphere.

We don't keep al the Sonos gear in stock but can get it in for you.

This little unit has been designed for portability. Take it on a picnic or have it on your bedside table where it can fit in with the rest of your system as well.

If you'd like to dabble in some Atmos speakers but don't have the capability to cut holes into ceilings for a proper directional sound experience, this may be a compromise you'd like to make.

The idea of these is that they sit on top of your front left and right speakers and the sound from them will bounce off the ceiling and down to you at a perfect 90 degree angle. Unfortuneately sound waves won't all travel perfectly like that and simultaneously bounce of your ceiling and down on to you. The result is a muddy sound. So if possible get the real Atmos experience with in-ceilings.

We recommend these only as a last resort.

Alternatively, these are a good option as a simple set of wall-mounted heights or surrounds.

To create a true in home theatre experience you'll need to get that feeling that the sound is coming from behind you. These work perfectly in system where there are 2 rear speakers but you need to get the most out of them. They disperse the sound using their dual driver, or dipole, array. For a lot of people, a slim soundbar that delivers clarity and depth to the sound without encompassing the whole entertainment space is a perfect solution. For many of our customers who err on the side of audiophile fanaticism, it's perhaps more appropriate for a kids rumpus room or secondary entertainment space that is used less often.

The Denon soundbars are good for what they are but make no mistake, a soundbar will never beat a complete Home Theatre setup.

The new Bronze 100 Bookshelf speakers are the large bookshelves in Monitor Audio's 6th Generation of the ever popular Bronze Range. They replace the Bronze 2s but have been completely redesigned from the bottom up, not just tweaked here and there.

We're very sad to see the last of the Bronze 2s walk out the door because they've been such an awesome speaker for so many of our customers...in fact they were Carlton Audio Visual's best selling speaker if their generation

So the Bronze 100s have very large shoes to fill. Are they up to the task?

Yes they are. Actually, we think they're better.

An even bigger sound but with more tightness in the bass and that bit of refinement in sound that was lacking with the Bronze 2. There's no front firing port on the new Bronze 100 but this is a good compromise with this speaker and goes a long way to improving the sound. If you are worried about speaker placement being too close to a wall, a couple of foam bungs in the ports will solve that.

 

Actually the Bronze 100s are really good at low volumes and retain an even frequency balance across a wide spectrum of volume operations. Just generally many speakers are tuned so that they are only offering a full and balanced sound over a relatively narrow volume range. The Bronze 100s are a slightly unfashionable size but this gives them a particular advantage in this respect. They are one of the great all round loudspeaker designs for their sensible asking of the monies.

Yes Carlton Audio Visual does sell Sonos. We find it convenient too! Maybe not the best if your after good quality sound but many people have built their systems around Sonos over the years and continue to add onto it.

This is the Sonos MOVE 2 and it is potable but bigger than the ROAM for less tinniness and a bit more bass which is definitely appreciated when we're talking about these types of small active speakers.

It's splashproof, dirtproof and spill proof making it a great family, kidzone option.
