The Aperta speaker stands stop unwanted vibrational frequencies of the speaker cabinet from distorting or muddying the sound of the music. You don't want resonant frequencies of the speaker cabinet to transfer to furniture or floor where your speakers are placed. This creates what we hear as impurities in the music.

The Aperta Sub is designed to handle the bass resonant frequencies of a subwoofer as well as the weight.
