The JBL Summit K2 is a loudspeaker with rather serious intentions. Drawing on four generations of Project K2 development, this substantial three-way floorstander combines a 15-inch woofer and 10-inch mid-bass driver with an unusual compression-driver arrangement, bringing together three D2815 units and a large-format HDI horn. The result is designed to deliver music with remarkable clarity, scale and immediacy, from the finest details to the full force of a demanding orchestral passage or a particularly enthusiastic drum solo. JBL’s Hybrid Carbon Cellulose Composite cones provide the stiffness and control needed to keep bass weighty and assured, without losing composure when the volume rises.

The engineering continues throughout, from the carefully designed crossover network to the curved, internally braced enclosure, all intended to preserve the signal and keep unwanted resonances in check. IsoAcoustics isolation feet help manage vibration, while flexible connection options allow the Summit K2 to work in conventional stereo systems or more elaborate bi-amped and tri-amped arrangements. Finished in high-gloss black with platinum accents or ebony veneer with gold detailing, it has the presence to match its considerable ambitions. For listeners who want their music reproduced on a grand scale, with both refinement and a genuine sense of physical impact, the Summit K2 makes a compelling case.
