John has been making electronics for decades. Previously under the Music Labs branding. He's gotten better over time as well.
Special details about this Phono stage design are the separate power supply. This keeps the bulky and noisy power supply away from the sensitive parts of the circuit. Also separate circuit boards for each channel. Dip switches on the back of the unit allow for an incredible amount of gain and impedance adjustability.
This is a seriously classy phono stage and great value at this price point.
