In 1989, Rotel confirmed its digital audio expertise with the launch of the RCD-855 CD player. The press was overwhelming in its praise, one critic going so far as to call it “The steal of the century”, and since then Rotel has never looked back.

The new MkII version of the CD14 has changed the DAC from a Wolfson to a Texas Instruments DAC. The word on the grapevine is that this was only sparked by a shortage in availability of Wolfson DACs in a realigned DAC chip marketplace. The Mark II is surpringly similar to the original in sound and outward appearance.
