Sonus faber Olympica G3 III Floorstanding Speakers

The Sonus faber Olympica G3 III brings a rather lovely sense of proportion to a serious floorstanding speaker. Its slender, asymmetrical lute-inspired cabinet draws on Palladian architecture, combining handcrafted wood veneer with sculptural proportions and refined aluminium detailing. Inside, the three-way design reaches down to 35Hz, giving the speaker the scale and authority you’d expect, while retaining the clarity and natural warmth for which Sonus faber is known. It’s an elegant piece of Italian design, certainly, but the styling never feels separate from its acoustic purpose.

At the heart of the Olympica G3 III is the Camelia midrange, originally developed for Sonus faber’s flagship Suprema and shaped around the natural geometry of the camellia flower. Its non-circular membrane helps reduce unwanted resonances while offering a generous radiating surface, bringing impressive transparency, vocal realism and nuance to the midrange. The tweeter and midrange sit within a dedicated closed chamber, with a computer-designed cork damping structure helping preserve resolution and the natural character of voices and instruments. Add the matte grey sandblasted aluminium, polished 45-degree chamfers and meticulous Italian craftsmanship, and the Olympica G3 III manages that increasingly rare trick of looking beautifully considered while letting the music remain the main event.
