The Wharfedale EVO 5.C is a centre speaker designed to bring a little more refinement to the business of dialogue and cinematic detail. Its three-way design separates the midrange and treble from the twin bass drivers, helping voices remain clear and naturally balanced while sound effects and music retain their weight. Wharfedale’s AMT-style high-frequency driver adds a smooth, open quality to the top end, while the dedicated midrange driver gives dialogue a pleasing sense of presence without making it sound overly forward.

As the centre of an EVO 5-based home cinema system, the 5.C has the scale and composure to keep pace with larger front speakers, yet it remains remarkably civilised in presentation. Dialogue sits confidently in the mix, subtle vocal inflections are easy to follow, and larger soundtracks have room to breathe. It is an understated but rather important upgrade for a serious home cinema, doing precisely what a good centre speaker should: making the story easier to follow without anything getting in the way.
