The WiiM Sound marks the brand’s first proper foray into smart speakers, and rather sensibly, it hasn’t forgotten what made WiiM popular in the first place. Behind the rather neat exterior is a 100 Watt, two-way speaker system with a 4-inch paper-cone woofer, twin silk-dome tweeters and high-resolution streaming up to 24-bit/192 kHz. Add AI-driven RoomFit™ calibration and the WiiM Sound adjusts itself to its surroundings with considerably less fuss than one might expect — producing a balanced, full-bodied sound wherever it happens to live.

There is plenty of cleverness here too, including a rather smart 1.8-inch touchscreen, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth, Ethernet and support for virtually every sensible streaming and casting platform. It can operate on its own, pair with another WiiM Sound for proper stereo, join a multi-room system or even take on centre and surround duties in a WiiM home cinema setup. In short, it is a remarkably flexible little speaker that combines convenience, genuine hi-res capability and rather more acoustic ambition than the average smart speaker would care to admit.
