Pair it with any set of speakers and it will be a commanding force acoustically in the room. We had one of these on demonstration with the over 2M tall Platinum 500 loudspeakers that already have mighty bass extension. The PLW215 though rocketed that bass extension to new depths.

But not only that...it ENERGISES a room. It's the kind of difference will literally put the hairs up on your arms and make your heart race faster. When you put a movie chase scene on, you start to actually feel anxious...it's a little unerving.

Of course all of that is paired with sublime control, fast responses and oooooodles of power (2000W peak RMS). Just a magnificent subwoofer and this one is new in a box, never touched.

Twin 15" C-CAM drivers, triple-suspended for a full 4cm of excursion and individually powered by DSP-controlled amplifiers, will deliver clean frequencies down to 16 Hz. At this level, bass arrives with a percussive impact that you feel from head to toe, seamlessly extending even the PL500 II to deliver breath-taking audio resolution beyond the limits of your audible range, but with a physical dimension that absorbs the senses. Put simply, it’s the sound of nature, vividly re-created.

Even so, all this explosive audio potency would be wasted without control. Adjust the in-room response of the PLW215 II on the top panel or via laptop using our proprietary ‘SubConnect’ software. Within this global setting, the 24bit DSP offers four fully configurable user presets per input, including pre-set modes for Flat/Music/Movie/Impact EQ settings. If you wish to fine-tune, you can adjust frequency, slope, trim and EQ filters for each preset. There’s also a Night Mode, which actively reduces the dynamic range of louder sections according to the level you desire. The PLW215 II is the most powerful, sophisticated and natural sounding bass engine we have ever built, and so complements the flagship Platinum II range with impeccable precision.

Introducing the 212/SX, 1000W of goodness with a rear firing, down firing and two active 12" front firing. Upgraded with carbon fibre blades behind the drivers to stiffen yet in doing so adding nominal weight to the drivers.

This means more control, faster, even more agile and extended low bass.

Rel has developed an all-new driver for this special edition subwoofer based on the Rel S/812 unit. This is the BlackWidow Driver. A 12" carbon fibre active driver. 

Like the other smaller siblings in the S series, these units are stackable up to three units high!

A Dual Subwoofer design for a true in-home Cinema experience from Subwoofer Kings, SVS. 

Other in Wall Subwoofer designs are quite complicated to install requiring a lot of space for which most Australian homes don't readily have in their walls. They also require the sourcing of separate amplifiers. 

Although, In-wall Subs are routinely asked for, we find ourselves putting in traditional stand alone units because of these complexities. The SVS Dual 3000 In-wall changes this equation and we'll be using these for in-home Theatre installations.

Sometimes in this industry companies will bring out a new model or range and you get the sense that the main purpose for said range is to put in some cost cutting measures in the components, dress it up in a new faceplate and charge more...needless to say we steer clear of such brands...

All of the rumble and wallop of Hollywood’s most action-packed blockbusters is yours from the potent Gold W12 Subwoofer, in which a 12" (305 mm) long-throw driver is reinforced by a pair of Auxiliary Bass Radiators (ABR) and powered by 600 W of Class D amplification. The power and scale this combination are capable of generating can be felt just as easily as it can be heard, thanks to its prodigious 20 Hz bass extension.

Gold W12 has a number of fine-tuning options, and thanks to Monitor Audio’s Automatic Position Correction (APC) system, the subwoofer can work at its optimum no matter where it’s positioned. REL's completely rebuilt S series Subwoofer. With a 10" active driver and a 12" passive driver. The 10" driver has been redesigned and can handle the added power of the new amplifiers.

The REL engineers were worried that the added pressure of all the extra power from the amplifiers would deform the cone under load. They've added extra carbon fibre behind the cone to stabilise the structure and to dampen it reducing distortions.

Because of these new drivers and amplifier modules, this little guy is actually capable of producing lower frequencies than its predecessor, the S/3 SHO and outperforms the S/5 SHO in terms of dynamics, volume and intensity!

We're really excited by this new offering by SVS - A powerful subwoofer to hide away within a wall including a matching amplifier.

We get many enquiries regarding this sort of product but others out there only offer a piecemeal solution where one has to source a separate amplifier and build your own casing. 

For sure, it is still easier to install these as part of a bigger renovation or building project. But this is a simpler, workable system that will work in a variety of situations and be powerful enough to give a beefy Home Theatre experience.

I have a confession to make to the HiFi world, I don't like Subwoofers! Well I don't like most Subwoofers. That sound of boomy over exaggerated bass masks all the good HiFi stuff like articulation detail, 3-dimensionality, big wide soundstage. Doing Subwoofers badly will turn your system into a flobby doof doof sound instead of adding bass in a cohesive way that'll fill out the mid range as well as the bass. Don't get me wrong, there are people who love that sort of sound (people who work at Carlton Audio Visual included!) and for them, we have other Subwoofers. For those, however, who are critical music listeners, who prefer detail and accuracy, consistency and finese, there's REL Subwoofers.

The Rel T9/X is the biggest version of the new X series Subwoofers from REL. One 10" active and one 10" passive driver. Faster and more transparent, the T9X builds on the hugely successful T9i.

REL now is making a cute wooden subwoofer. A vintage sounding unit, it doesn't have quite the tightness, depth of bass and immediacy of something like the REL S510. 

Also unlike the T series of subwoofers in the REL range, it doesn't have the grippy, fullsome class A/B amplifier.

But what a lovely subwoofer for a set of bookshelf speakers! It's a soft sound that is different to other REL subs but altogether is more emotional where other RELs might feel a little colder.

It sounds so much better than the awful wooly subs that populate the sub $1000k space, that's for sure.

And what a pretty little thing as well. It has a furniture grade, mid century finish that is very smart yet equally homely.
