I've personally had Koss Porta Pro Headphones for a number of years now and I added a pair of the Koss Porta Pro wireless version to the stable after going through a couple of pairs of Earbuds that were incompatible with me...I'm still not sure whether that's because I get unusually sweaty ears or tiny ears or a combination of both but they would never stay in my ears.

These are super comfortable though and sound massively better than the Earbuds. The Bluetooth receiver does jiggle a little but that's an easy trade-off for me for not having to worry about an Earbud falling out of my ear onto the pavement.

REL now is making a cute wooden subwoofer. A vintage sounding unit, it doesn't have quite the tightness, depth of bass and immediacy of something like the REL S510. 

Also unlike the T series of subwoofers in the REL range, it doesn't have the grippy, fullsome class A/B amplifier.

But what a lovely subwoofer for a set of bookshelf speakers! It's a soft sound that is different to other REL subs but altogether is more emotional where other RELs might feel a little colder.

It sounds so much better than the awful wooly subs that populate the sub $1000k space, that's for sure.

And what a pretty little thing as well. It has a furniture grade, mid century finish that is very smart yet equally homely.

I have a confession to make to the HiFi world, I don't like Subwoofers! Well I don't like most Subwoofers. That sound of boomy over exaggerated bass masks all the good HiFi stuff like articulation detail, 3-dimensionality, big wide soundstage. Doing Subwoofers badly will turn your system into a flobby doof doof sound instead of adding bass in a cohesive way that'll fill out the mid range as well as the bass. REL's completely rebuilt S series Subwoofer. With a 10" active driver and a 12" passive driver. The 10" driver has been redesigned and can handle the added power of the new amplifiers.

The REL engineers were worried that the added pressure of all the extra power from the amplifiers would deform the cone under load. They've added extra carbon fibre behind the cone to stabilise the structure and to dampen it reducing distortions.

Because of these new drivers and amplifier modules, this little guy is actually capable of producing lower frequencies than its predecessor, the S/3 SHO and outperforms the S/5 SHO in terms of dynamics, volume and intensity!

It also has this cool feature of daisy chaining subwoofers together so you can stack as many as you'd like on top of themselves...ultimate subwoofer upgrade capabilities!!
