This made an immediate and frankly stunning effect when I added it to the system pictured. Before we had been running the PS Audio Transport, DAC, and power amplifier together as a minimalist high powered high current set of kit readily able to drive the highly transparent Monitor Audio Platinum II loudspeakers. Since then Turntables have become trendy and people have rediscovered why they were loved for so long.

And when customers are at a point in their journey where the lifelong admiration and obsession with vinyl and HiFi has taken hold, we recommend the Stellar Phono Stage. It will last a lifetime of cartridge upgrades and swaps. It will extract the most out of a $8499 cartridge (Van den Hul Crimson Stradivarius MC is a sensational pairing with this unit) as it will with a $500 Moving Magnet cartridge.

You'll hear control, detail and presence; There's a spatial awareness in the sound and transparency that reveals itself when you plug this into any system. And it performs well above its pay grade. We really believe to better this you'll have to pay $17K for some Audio Research gear and hell...even then, I'd say some people will still prefer this phono stage for it's clarity in the mid range.

The only thing that we find annoying about it...it requires a remote control to operate. You'll need that in the very first instance to turn its mute off in order to get any sound. And then of course all its plethora of settings that give it such versatility for all cartridges are adjusted on the remote. So don't...like us...loose the remote! *

Also, you need to be patient with this machine and run it in. It really is night and day the difference that makes. We even have some Blue Horizon RIAA filters to use as burn in tools on new units so you don't have to put hours on your cartridge burning in the phono stage. We have many customers who have good existing HiFi systems and especially recently with Lockdowns and spending more time at home listening to their systems, they ask 'what's my next step? I want something better. But do I really have to spend big on a new amp? Or is it more worthwhile getting new speakers?' Yes, these are questions facing the priveleged with cash to spend in these uncertain times.

The obvious answer to these dilemnas in our minds is a regenorator....not just your average power conditioner but a unit that will take the power off the wall and turn it into a perfect 230V sine wave minus the background hum of our modern urban environments.

For those who LOVE a bit of hands on tech and physics, this unit will even show you what it's improving with its full colour touch display on the front panel. You can measure the distortion that's coming off the wall using a built in THD analyser and oscilloscope and see the improvements that it's making.

This is the recently released version of PS Audio's CD Transport. And what sets this unit apart from anything that PS Audio has done before and also anything that's been done before by any other HiFi company, is their galvanically isolated output stage. That means that the data is being transfered from the input stage to the output stage via a type of very focused short wave radio frequencies. Any vestiges of interference that inevitably occur when these stages are hardwired, are completely eliminated.

Input and output stages have their very own board and power supply to keep them completely separated as well. FPGAs (Field-Programable Gate Array; if you'd like to learn more about these very handy devices see Paul McGowan's video here) is utilised to ensure clocking and data buffering are spot on. 

The best way to use this unit and unleash its full potential is to use the I2S output or the HDMI out put to a DAC (like the PS Audio DirectStream) that can handle it. In this respect you can hear a complete Raw DSD file...and that truly is another experience. A DSD file is what makes an SACD an SACD. Instead of sampling at a determined fast rate (bit rate) the sine curve of the musical file, a DSD file samples the whole sine curve. These raw files are bigger and have to be compresesd to even push it out of a transport. But not with this unit and the I2S...full blown raw DSD files streaming into your speakers. Heaven.

Of course you can still use this unit without the I2S and it's still devastatingly good. A pair of BNC connectors will double a normal DSD output to make it DSD128 and this connection is particularly scintillating with a Chord Dave...
