The Soundcare SuperSpike is an all new-design, all-in-one spike foot.  The self adhesive version has many uses. Use this version under speakers that do not have threaded inserts or do not have threadsizes that are offered by Soundcare. Having them in a tripod arrangement allows for a stable footing even in situations of slightly uneven floors. This version is also fantastic under electronic components such as amplifiers, CD players, etc. Try them under subwoofers as well. Triangular positioning of the feet allows for optimal sonic benefit and is even more cost effective as only three spikes are required per component.

C-screen is a brand new shielded speaker cable aimed at both audio and home cinema systems.  It joins the award-winning line up of Chord Company shielded speaker cables, including the acclaimed Clearway and the high-performance Signature Reference.

Our design objective was to produce a cable discreet enough for easy installation, with all the performance benefits that shielding can bring.  C-screen is just 8mm in diameter and flexible enough to route around corners with ease. It’s finished with a white outer jacket which protects the shielding and makes it virtually invisible against white skirting boards.

C-screen features multi-stranded oxygen-free copper conductors, insulated with low-density polyethylene and arranged in a twisted-pair configuration to reduce interference. The cable is then enclosed in a PVC casing that reduces mechanical noise and spaces the conductors correctly, relative to the twin-foil shielding.

What about tarnish?

It’s a common mistake to think that because silver oxidises it is a poor conductor. The reality is that silver does not oxidise until it reaches 170 C. It does, however, tarnish at room temperature, reacting with sulphur in the air.
Although tarnished silver is not the nicest thing to look at (on ornaments or cutlery), electrically, it is less troublesome.

Tarnish (normally silver sulphide) is a soft and malleable material and can be easily moved aside with very little force. We ensure these forces are present in our speaker plugs and spade connectors. The diagram below illustrates the fact that no matter how smooth a contact looks to the naked eye, it is still quite rough at a microscopic level. There are limited points of actual contact, even under fairly high levels of force. By simply moving a connector in and out of the socket, it is possible to effectively clean the contact points. Ensure all equipment is switched off before doing this simple maintenance procedure.

Plugs will also benefit from a major clean, using a good contact cleaner or enhancer.

4 x 50mm titanium spike mounts for lightweight racks and components. Hand crafted in Japan

These are the same size as the standard steel SM5 isolation devices but they are built from titanium.  Can the change of materials make a difference?  Absolutely: the titanium Silent Mount SM5s are identical in size to the stainless steel SM5s but are considerable lighter. The reduced weight improves energy transfer and this is why the titanium version produces a better performance.  Timing, dynamics and coherence are all improved and the image is more solid with instruments and voices well defined and accurately placed within the soundstage.

The titanium SM5s are designed to be used with any high performance rack or table.

We use them underneath an Audiophile Star Base rack in our demonstration room and we have also used them with turntable supports, where the improvements to sound quality are particularly striking. Like many upgrades it very easy to quickly get used to the big improvements that the titanium SM5s make.  Taking them out of the system is genuinely surprising and leaves you in no doubt as to how much of a contribution they are making.

All Silent Mounts are supplied with a set of self adhesive thin felt pads. If the rack is sited on anything other than a carpeted floor, the felt pads should be fitted to the base of each Silent Mount. The felt pad has been specifically chosen to minimise any vibration between the Silent Mount and the floor and will ensure that you get the best performance. If the silent Mount is being used on a carpeted floor the Felt pads should not be fitted.

Each Silent Mount SMF5 titanium isolation mount will support up to 50 Kilos in weight.

The stainless steel SM7 Silent Mounts are designed to be used with both floor standing and stand mount loudspeakers. Slightly larger than the SM5s (70mm diameter) and heavier, the silent mount will deal with the considerable energy that loud speakers are capable of generating. We use the SM7s with all the speakers in our dem room – and in every case the Silent Mount SM7s improve definition and sound staging, bass instruments in particular gain a greater sense of pitch and timbre, but in truth these improvements are very noticeable throughout the frequency range of the speaker. Music sounds more coherent and there’s a greater sense of performance and involvement. There are lots of reasons for using Silent Mount isolation devices.  First of all there is the undeniable and obvious improvement in sound quality.  We’ve used these beneath floor standing speakers, beneath speaker stands and beneath racks as well.  In every case, the audible improvements are obvious and consistent.  Better definition, better detail and a greater sense of drive and rhythm.  We also think that image and depth improve as well.

SM5 stainless steel Silent Mounts have been designed to improve the contact between the spikes fitted to equipment and your floor. No matter how hard you think your floor is the pressure that the tip of each spike places on it is extremely high. The SM5 silent mount will make it far easier to stabilise your equipment/rack and will improve the high speed energy transfer.

All Silent Mounts are supplied with a set of self adhesive thin felt pads.
