We've always loved the ease of use, reliability of Rotel CD players. But the RCD-1572MKII is more than that. It's detail and musicality within a very cool retro-esque chassis. You can't help but fall in love with this unit!

Not much has changed from the RCD-1572 to the MKII version except for the DAC. They are now using Texas instrument DACs. This was born out of practicality because sourcing DACs in the post COVID world has become problematic. However, the Texas instrument DACs are anything but a downgrade in sound quality!

The MX DAC has been around for a while now (since 2016) and it still surprises. For such a little box, 220mm x 220mm, and a relatively affordable price, this unit ticks boxes that much bigger and pricier units don't manage.

This is part of a new wave of retro practical good sounding stereo receivers that are finding a place in homes as practical high fidelity devices. In a way they are a riposte to the exuberant age of surround sound amplifiers that have dissapointed purchasers by offering features over quality.

CD Players are considered an endangered species in the market so it might appear that Rotel are slightly brave to be releasing a new high end model at the moment. However in our part of the market CD layers are alive and thriving as they are purchased by people who have advanced and numerous CD collections that cannot be qualitatively matched by streaming sources. The Rotel 1572 CD Player is a good example of this ... although a plain jane disc spinner product it has intrinsic good sound and build quality that just keeps selling steadily. The DT6000 improves on that engineering for sound and longevity even further and in fact sets a new standard for a Rotel product in this category. The PM7000N is the lovechild of a throuple of the PM6007amplifier, a Heos Link, and a decent digital to analogue converter.

Connections on this unit include phono for a Turntable, Optical and Coaxial for digital sources like a TV, USB, subwoofer, outputs for two sets of speakers and most importantly streaming capabilities (via Heos built-in). And sure there are other amps that have similar set of connections with Phono and a selection of digital inputs forming the basis of many stereo integrated amps these days, but they don't normally have streaming built in. 

A cello sounds full deep and resonating, like a cello should. And female vocalists like Hannah Reid from London Grammar don't become shrill when the volume goes up a bit. 

At just below the $2K mark, this is a solid offering and a must-listen for those wanting a do-it-all amplifier.
