The Cursa is a high performance audio pre-amplifier housed in the Rega custom built extruded aluminium case. It uses the Rega Alpha-Encoder control system as used in the Mira. The flexibility has been further improved by adding a second tape input. The Cursa is a fully remote controlled pre-amplifier with a choice of three phono input plug-in cards. Moving Magnet, Moving Coil & Standard Line Levels. There are two power amplifier outputs, which can be set to any one of the five different available output levels. This enables the Cursa to drive most types of power amplifier. High quality Evox capacitors have been used in the signal path throughout. Both phono inputs use discrete circuit topology with active and passive equalisation of the RIAA curve. Rega has optimised the technical performance by using a discrete component circuit topology where other similarly priced pre-amplifiers use integrated circuits. This pre-amplifier stage is DC coupled. Servo correction has been used to reduce the amount of capacitors in the signal path to a minimum. This stage can drive any load connected to the pre-amplifier output, for example long signal cables and as many power amplifiers as required.

The new X-pre v3 from musical fidelity is a beautiful compliment to the rest of the X-range. Its a design that belies not only its size, but also its price, punching well above its weight. Infact, speaking of weight, it weighs almost as much as integrated equivalent, the X-150. Sporting 3 line inputs, tape loop and a phono stage, the X-PRe v3 is a great little preamp at a great little price.

We have recently welcomed Bryston with open arms into our demo space and have been thoroughly impressed.

What is immediately striking is the depth to the stereo image, which throws far back and wide. We have found it to pair extremely well with the beastly MB2i offering from its English partner PMC, which is of no great surprise since Bryston make all the amplifiers for their active range of larger speakers.
