Available to audition in their own Lygon st Showroom. These are a speaker of remarkable presence and beauty. They are highly capable of presenting the music in a natural and completely unfettered manner. This unit is very similar to the previous generations the big difference being the change in DAC from an AKM to a Texas instruments DAC. This change has not surprisingly coincided with the large fire at the AKM factory in Japan that has decimated stocks of AKM parts.

So reading between the lines, this was a change that was forced upon Rotel. Not that the Texas instruments DACs are bad or there's a decrease in performance. Just that, yes, they're slightly different. Rotel has held true to its sound signature though and tweeked things so they still sound fundamentally like Rotel.
