The Hegel H390 managed to impress some hardend and cynical ears at Carlton Audio Visual. In fact, at the moment we have it on main rotation in the Lygon st demo room because it's sounds so good on such a range of speakers.

This demo space is used not only to entertain staff while they're beavering away doing the office work but also to run in speakers. With all the choice we have in store, I found myself going back to this amp when I had a choice on which one to pair with the Acoustic Energy Coriniums that are now being run in.

The thing of these Hegel amps is the damping factor. That is the ability of the amplifier to overcome the reactive load and spring effect of the loudspeaker drive units and render absolute control over the micro motions of the transducer cones.

It gives you such grip and control and it's warm fast and dynamic whilst being super easy to listen to, Plus all that on board streaming means I can sit in the office typing away and change the song via Roon or Tidal. Seeing these for the first time was a bit like that occasion when I was at a party outside of my normal social strata of hippy and bikerdom and the six foot 2 inch Supermodel comes into the room. One is momentarily stunned.
Whereas a Sonus faber Aida evokes a sense of primal wonder at the wooden waveforms embedded in their design, the Dynaudio Confidence 60 is like that graceful alien shape that comes amongst us as a creature of grace and purity. Better than us, more evolved and refined than the merely squalid mortal transducer instruments that the multitude of humanity must settle for.

They sound like that too ... I do not honestly believe that there is a loudspeaker that is more measured and true in its presentation. These are not a simple product a the end of along chain of development. The Confidence 60 is a loudspeaker that misses nothing and adds nothing.
